Need a different 6” chimney brush

I have a 6 in. round poly chimney brush that is much stiffer and / or a bit larger in diameter than I want. Working from the roof with the very lightly sooted chimney at chest height the brush goes down hard until the transition to the the vertical double wall stove pipe where it sticks. Then it is a bear to get the bristles to flip to pull up where it still goes pretty dry. Taking the straight stove pipe off to clean separately is a real pain as it goes through the cookstove’s warming oven. My previous Waterford Stanley just had a warming shelf which made removing the pipe easier. Moving the brush shouldn’t be that difficult. I’m looking for one that is more workable. I think this one is an Imperial.

Yup I used the imperial poly brush and it’s terrible. Stiff and unforgiving. The Sooteater drill brush is really good. I’ve used one for about 10 yrs. Good for stage 1 and stage 2 creosote. Cut the brush to just over what you need .

Thanks! So many bristles, I think I’ll just try another brand. I do have a sooteater and rods that I used once but with the size of my cookstove it is awkward to use and even with a bag tapped up I managed to make a mess. There will come a time when working from the roof will be too unpleasant and I may want to revisit the sooteater.

I hear you. Bc my chimney is short I sweep top down with the sooteater.

Got a new brush yesterday, less bristles and less stiff. I wondered if it was too light but when in the chimney there was sufficient resistance. Best thing was I was able to work it much harder for a real good cleaning.
