:) sure will do!

so how I found this thread was I was looking for the proper gasket size. I figured it out and replaced it today but got glue on the outside of the glass. I didn't notice it (super busy with work), and had the stove going with the glue on it. Do you know how I can remove this glue? Simply wiping it with a cloth isn't doing it. (maybe when it cools down, but I doubt it). I'm afraid of using an abrasive cleaning agent or brush because when I tried cleaning the inside of the glass once I found that scratched the glass really easily. I know that the inside (maybe the outside too?) is treated so maybe it won't happen on the outside? Anyhow, I'd love to figure this out because as it is now I have big black splotch on my glass.

Paging @webbie. Call in the lobby for webbie.

Brian,
I recall they where constructed in a maquiladora1. I visited the american owner and recall he was very proud of the materials used. I'm only guessing but based on age and the owners attitude I think asbestos would not be used. Asbestos was being phased out during the early 70s to early 80s.

  1. In Mexico, a maquiladora (Spanish pronunciation: [makilaˈðoɾa]) or maquila (IPA: [maˈkila]) is a manufacturing operation in a free trade zone (FTZ), where factories import material and equipment on a duty-free and tariff-free basis for assembly, processing, or manufacturing and then export the assembled, processed ...

Thank you very much for your prompt reply Jon.

I only asked because I was (unfortunately) destroying one today, and was a little concerned by the look of some of the insulating materials I found so I wanted to be sure.

Thanks again,
Brian

I just moved into my "new to me" floathome and it has a white Meridian stove. As funky as it is, the scale is too large for the house. Does anyone know if there is a market for these? I live in the Vancouver BC area.

Yes, they are still desirable if in good condition. However, they are very heavy and need to be moved very carefully.

I am in BC and am looking for a white Meridian. I know you posted this years ago, but if you still had it... let me know!

Hi we just purchased a home that has a meridian stove in excellent shape. The stove really does add so much character to our living room but we are remodeling the room and our plans don’t allow for the stove to stay. If anyone is thinking of purchasing one of these let me know! I haven’t seen many of these posted for sale so thought I would post in a forum.

Long shot that you still have this, but this is the exact color as mine. I'm in need of a new door possibly and ours doesn't have a hearth. Did you end up selling this or do you still have it?

Hi All, I'm trying to replace the glass on our Meridian Ceramic Tile Stove. Does anyone know the best place to get this glass insert? I'm wondering if I should get it custom cut. I also found this glass insert online, but the dimensions don't match the manual. I also am wondering if this is the correct CFC material to patch the inside of the stove and seal the glass. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

If the glass is cracked but intact, then it can be taped and removed to serve as a template. A new, ceramic glass window can be cut by a good glass dealer that sells pyroceram, robax, and neoceram glass. If none are found, this can be ordered online. In that case I would send them a paper template and they will want to know the glass thickness.

Usually the stove door glass is gasketed and held in by clamps. I have never seen one glued in.

Thank you for responding. Okay, I’ll explore gasketing the door. The Meridian Ceramic Stove maintenance manual says to use a CFC moldable to seal the glass to the door.

Yes, I just read up on that section. It's unusual to see this. Stove ceramic glass will expand/contract at a different rate than the door frame metal.
The manual says in lieu of CFC to use stove and furnace cement. In that case I would want something that bonds well. Hearthstone makes a high quality stove cement that is ceramic fiber reinforced. It's available in tubes. Woodman's Parts Plus and others sell it.
