We’ve had our Mendota gas insert for several years, it’s been very reliable and provides plenty of heat… when running. Couple weeks ago I tried running it but it took dozens of attempts to finally get it to go from pilot flame to full flame. I decided to open it up and remove logs and stones after photographing the positions of everything. So I did that and vacuumed what dust was in there and used a brass brush to clean the pilot area, then vacuumed again. Put everything back together and nothing seemed to change. Got it working last night after about 40 tries and it ran fine for 4-5 hours. Tried this morning and same deal… pilot goes on and then shuts down whether it’s in CPI or IPI mode. Service guy coming out next week but I’m still wondering what’s wrong. Any ideas out there?-Mike
