We have had ours for 11 months and biggest thing I learned is that it takes time to heat up, with all the cast iron and soap stone. Plus being in my uninsulatd basrment it takes more time to push heat thru the house. But with the new windows and attic door insulation, the house stays warmer longer. What a grand stove.

Soapstone takes twice as long to heat up, but then gives it back twice as long too.

We have been having some problems with the stove not getting up to temp. We thought our wood was good (16 months stacked) but got some from another source we knew would be seasoned over 2 years to make sure it wasn't a wood problem and even with that we are having some issues still. Have our chimney guy coming tomorrow for a consult. We may need a chimney liner after all. It's all good just want to get ourselves all set before the cold really comes.

A liner will make it a whole nother heating animal.

Very handsome stove and set up. I'm sure you'll enjoy it's warmth all winter. Really great that there is a stove that is so nice with the dimensions the Manchester has.

(broken image removed)Installed outdoor air kit this weekend . will see how it does over the next few days.

Well the wife call me this morning and stated that the side handle broke off. This door has only been opened 10 times or less in the year and 2 weeks we have had the stove. We use the front door exclusivly. 5 year warranty on handles. Dealer is having replacement send from factory to our door. Glad I got a good dealer...my father has purchased 5 stoves off this guy in the last 38 years. My first from him.

By handle are you talking about the wooden portion? If so, I wonder if maybe the screw backed out and broke off. I just about exclusively use the side door and I noticed a couple days ago that the screw had started to back out. I made sure I tightened it up good, we'll see how long it stays.

No. It was the bolt that closes the door. Snaped off. Will try tonight to see if I can use something to latch it shut, else will wait for handle and burn some gas for the next few days.

Ouch, that sucks. Mine seems pretty sturdy(knock on wood) but I do find myself leaning on it now and then, guess it's time to quit that.

Did a quick fix with a bolt bent inside the stove latch, and some nuts outside. Called dealer, 5 year of warranty on handles. He is having Hearthstone sending me a new handle.
