Hi fellow burners!
It's been some years since I've posted last.
We have been serious wood burners since 2007 having owned many different stoves such as PE Summit, PE Vista Hearthstone Mansfield, Woodstock Fireview and now a Hearthstone Manchester 8630. We are serious about our wood so we harvest, split and stack 3yrs in advance in our covered woodshed (red and white oak).
We purchased this stove and did a complete rebuild (all new gaskets, glass, baffle, paint) including a dollar bill test. We use only the front door (we do not use ash pan, or side door)
We have it installed in our brand new custom energy efficient home connected to 7ft of double wall (with a damper 1ft above stove) then 15ft of class A. We built the home ourselves and went over the top with insulation.
We LOVE the look of the stove! But this thing vaporizes wood and never leaves us any coals to start a fire in the morning....annnoying. We've tried about everything we can think of! Completely loaded, shut air down early, close damper 75%....it's just gone, no coals and the stove is barely warm to touch. We are NO WHERE close to what Hearthstone specs for burn time or heat holding time for that matter! Something has to change or we will have to swap out this gorgeous stove. HELP!
