I think the default settings are Feed trim is 3 and Blower air trim is 3.

mjlakers22,

It is just Smokey, no Mr. required.

I am asking about what is in the burn pot when you get the error code. If the stove isn't lighting then there should be pellets in some form or ash in the pot, likely a mixture.

If there is too much ash the igniter will have trouble starting the pellets, if there aren't enough pellets then the fire can be blown out leaving an burn pot without pellets in it.

It is also possible that your auger isn't delivering pellets due to bridging.

From the settings you just provided to j-takeman you are burning lean which is a very bad way to reignite the stove on firing rate #1 which is where it does the reignite. It makes reliable pellet delivery by the auger even more critical. Also as has been mentioned a number of times get the damper set using a mag.

smokey and jake t i really do appreciate your taking the time to help..

i guess after reading another thread you two commented in (and this thread), i most likely when it's cold, will be switching to High/Low setting to put less stress on the ignitor.

so if i'm interpreting correctly above from smokey i should run the Auto/Off on setting of feed trim 3 and blower 3...i guees i'm worried as to wether on not this will be able to keep my house warm enough..i've got a 2600 sqft center hall
colinial with 9 foot ceilings and a large open walkway (which i placed a fan in to move the warm air around)..so if i run my auto/off on blower 4, heat 4 i should run my feed on setting 3? will that maybe work..

my stove is cooling down now so i'm hoping it reignites on this pass

if either of you had to chooose one setting over the other in cold temps 20-40 degrees would you run the m55 on auto/off or high/low?..

thanksagain guys

Feed trim and and air trim are not the same as firing rate which is what controls the gross amount of fuel dumped into the burn pot.

You are getting confused about how the controls actually work. A trim control makes minor adjustments to the firing rate, these become critical on the lowest firing rate. Your stove starts up on firing rate #1. If you operate your stove on firing rate #3 it should handle things quite well. If not then there is firing rate #4. Regardless get that draft setup properly if it wasn't set using a mag at installation it was setup incorrectly.

With this cold snap coming in, I just turned mine to Hi/lo. Hi/Lo will also eliminate the lean start up as it doesn't shutdown, Just goes to low fire. But either will work at keeping the house warm. They will also keep the house from getting too warm as well. You could also keep the stove on manual. If it was getting to warm on heat setting #4? Just lower it to #3. The best way for me may not work for you.

A lot of these things you'll have to play with on your own. But only do little changes as too many might throw things off.
