Looking for a very small cast stove withthe following:

1) wider than deep (like a hearthstone "Craftsbury" but slightly smaller)
2) Has a cooktop ring or oval for cooking.
3) No side doors
4) Enamaled option would be a plus
5) total depth less then 20"

Thanks,
Slack

A Vermont Castings Intrepid seems to fit your size and needs requirements. I can't say I can recommend one as Vermont Castings customer service, parts, and quality control can be an issue. I also feel that the price of the stove ($1500) is a bit over priced. It really shouldn't be more than $1099 based on competition and heat output.

But, tight requirements may call for overlooking a stove's shortcomings.

Not the shape you wanted but the Jotul 602 has a great history and reputation.

It IS less than 20" deep. So, technically it should fit.

The F3 is the size you want and the shape you want.

He was looking for something with a "cooktop". I am assuming he meant a griddle, which the Jøtul F 3 CB doesn't have.

Picky aintcha! I thought a flat top might work for him.

I don't see many stoves out there with griddles any more. Maybe a small cat stove would have one but I have no idea what is offered in small cats.

I just wish the F 3 CB was two inches shorter. It would have been the perfect stove for where the Intrepid is in the kitchen. But even with the short leg kit, it would have been too tight of a fit for my liking.

Pacific Energy Alderlea T4. It's less than 20 inches deep not including the ash lip and door handle. It has a swing-out cooktop.

Take a quick look at the Morso Owl or similar stoves. I recall they're pretty close, albeit without the official stove top.
