its a cotton wood species
 
poplar. Wish I had more of it. Let the rounds sit a few months, then a child could split it.

Oh, maybe not 'nothing'. It does have some BTU's in it, and it burns well if properly seasoned. If I remember right, Red Oak ~ 24 MBTU/cord, Tulip ~17 MBTU. That's not nothing.

OTOH, the amount of effort is about the same to process a cord of Oak or a cord of Poplar. Heck, the Oak splits easier. ;-)



Yep- I'm voting for Tulip Poplar (but not 'cause I like it). :)

If it is, just mix it in with some decent hardwood when you burn.
