I have an old wood boiler, a Kerr Titan 101 that is set up in my garage, and water is piped 100 ft into my house. I have a 40 plate hx in the house feeding a 500 gallon storage tank. Tank feeds into radiant floors. All is functional and works but I have a hard time getting the boiler over 130 degrees, even during multi day runs. This is somewhat ok because I'm using it for radiant applications, but I'm curious if these old non gasifier boilers had a hard time heating up.... Any tricks? Blower fan is working fine, installed a damper, exhaust temp good..... Thoughts? Thanks!

What are ya burning?

Underground lines are thermopex one inch.... Burning dry hardwood. What should a stove like this have for a grate? It has coal gates but on top is a 1/4 steel plate with maybe 10 1 inch holes in it.... Thinking this might be an air restriction.... Should the grate be more like an expanded mesh? I'll get a pic of the plate today

I would assume that to be plenty for CFM. Try it with just the grates and se what the results are.

Not familiar with this furnace but, forced air fed? If so, is the blower working properly? Is there a gate valve, shutting off air supply malfunctioning? Sounds like your problem is fuel or air flow. Flow also incudes the draft.

Thanks for the reply,

I built a grate out of the expanded mesh in pic, maybe a little better but boy is it a wood eater now.

Forced air with a squirrel cage blower, feeds thru ash pit and up to grates, all is wide open and functional.

Any other thoughts? Stove is easy to light, thinking draft is ok?

Thanks for the time!!
