I have to fourth or fifth the 361. I sold a farm boss that I had for a year. It was not cutting it (no punn intended). It is alot harder to bog that 361 down in a wood pile. Not much heavier than a farm boss either.
I am looking at a Quadrafire 5100 insert as a replacement for my old insert. I've been comparing Quad with Lennox Country, lopi, and Regency. Dealers who offer multiple lines say Quardafire is the best on the market.
please share any information that may help my decision.

I went through all the Stove companies, and in the end I liked the functionality, styling and reputation of Quadrafire. I am getting a 5100i myself. If you have the opening to fit the 5100 I think its the best looking bay insert and fills the space nicely. As my British wife says, it doesnt look like a TV put in a hole. You might want to look into it soon. Quadrafire is offering a $200 gift certificate for Stihl Products, but I think you need to purchase, or at least put a deposit down by Sep 27th.
Ok, some things have changed. The Echo went back to Home Depot today for a refund. It will be replaced by a MS 361 once I get my gift certificate from Quadrafire.
After digging into some larger oak, the Echo just did not have enough juice - bogged down too easy. The CS 400 is a great saw for smaller cuts, but as a primary tool to cut large amounts of wood, I need a stronger saw.
MOFOG23 sounds like we are in the same boat. I have a QF 5100i on the way, and plan on staying in the Stihl family. My father bought a Stihl the year before I was born, and its still going strong. Now that I look at it, his saw is pretty close to the MS361 (29 years old though). I was looking at the MS390 with is the same HP but because of a higher engine size and also weighs .7 pounds more.
My wood isnt going to be optimal this year, but what you might want to look into this as I am too, Bare Foot Pellet company makes compressed all wood bricks called "Envi" and "Envi 8" they have a plant in Troy PA which may only be a 100 miles or so from you. BTU wise a pallet thats 4'X4"x3" has the same BTU as a cord of wood 4x4x8, or 3 face cords of 16" logs. From what I see that works out to about $80-85 face cord, and its rated at 6% moisture.
Congrats on the stove, I own the same one now this is my 3rd full season. Has anyone got an ok from Quadrafire on bio logs or brickes, I asked the dealer I bought my stove from and they said it would void the warrenty. A friend of mine from work just bought a Hampton 1300 insert and they said bio bricks were fine so he has 3 pallets now. He gave me a bundle to try but was wondering what everyone else with quad stoves are doing?
