Mostly my fault due to careless cleaning of the ceramic blanket, but I need to replace mine in my Oslo. I see that one can be had for about 30 bucks at various places cut to the correct size. However, I can buy a sheet of ceramic blanket for a few bucks less, that can be cut to make 2 blankets. Is there anything I should look for in particular with just buying a sheet to make my own, or am I better off just buying one with a Jotul part number?

I know the dimensions and have what is needed to cut it. Just wondering if this is an option or should be avoided.

The material in question is good for up to 2400 degrees F and is 8 pound density. It is listed on Amazon.

Thanks in advance for any info.

It might work if the thickness and material are correct but you would need the Jotul spec to compare.

When I replaced my blanket I went to the Jotul dealer and they unspooled a large batt of the stuff and asked me how many feet I wanted. As I recall it was quite reasonably priced which surprised me a bit. It was most certainly cheaper than $30, although I forget the exact price.

I didn't even think to go to the local stove shop. That's brilliant FFJ. Thanks for the info guys.

The shop didn't really cross my mind because its a bit over an hour away. Ill probably get enough to replace in a few years anyway.
