Here
This stove has been our main heat source since 2012.

Built a fire. Went to turn Air Flow down (dampen fire) and the lever just was like NO. I moved coals and gave it another wiggle. Literally applied minimum pressure, now this AFM just swinging in the streets. Going to attempt to upload the schematic. Anyone with thoughts or experience with this shitshow - Holla.

23 slides the piece of metal 21 back and forth on the "doghouse" floor. I attached a pic of 21 looking down with the doghouse cover removed. If you remove the doghouse cover a new gasket will probably be needed. Mine has never jammed. Really it is just a piece of flat bar with holes that slides back an forth and covers/uncovers machined holes in the doghouse floor.

I opened it up this morning now that the fire has died down. The Shoulder Screw was off. Binding up the works. Gonna wait another hour or so for the fire to cool enough to remove and see if I can get the screw back in. Waiting for local dealer to open so I can order a new gasket.

Cleared the coals. Waiting for stove to cool before I try reassembly. Contacted "local Dealer" they don't have a gasket and not sure they will be able to find one. Any idea on an alternative?

I’ve never taken mine apart on my F45. What does this gasket look like? Maybe you could get something from an auto parts store and modify it?

Mine was pretty much gone. Like I had a corner left. Local Dealer is ordering me one but it's a $5 part so they are waiting until they get a larger order to place it. That could be months. So I ordered some High Temp Gasket Paper as a stop gap from amazon. Gonna attempt reassembly. Fingers crossed.

This is what I ordered.

Call around to other Jotul dealers, order one online or make one out of 1/8" ceramic fiber blanket.

1/8" ceramic fiber gasket material
Did that. No one had the part couldn't get it for weeks or months. I lined the plate with thermal paste for the next couple days. Got the fire lit and watching it like a hawk. no issues so far. I'll be sleeping in the room with a CO2 detector tonight to make sure it's not off gassing through AFC.

When gasket material gets here - thinking of putting some lock-tite on that shoulder screw. Is that wise or pointless? I feared stripping the head when reassembling so I got it in... but worried now that it's been out I might have to do this every few months. (that's what she said) 😂

And Mr. Crab. Thank you. Without that pic I honestly didn't understand where that screw went. Trying to flash a light, camera, head in that space - that hole just kept disappearing. Hair a bit burnt - but I found it. And she happy. Thanks again.

You are welcome, glad my pics could help. It's a darn decent stove. My F45 was born in November 2016. Take care.
