Hello,
I have an old Jotul #3 in my home for supplemental heat and have always wanted a 602 for the workshop. Stumbled upon this enamel 602B for $300 (hopefully a fair price) and have a few questions before I put it into service.
Cook Plate - Managed to wire brush most of the crud off. Season it like a cast iron pan? Apply black stove polish? Purchase a new one on Woodman’s?
Door Gasket - Looks like the 3/8 I purchased from Lowe’s should work.
Outlet Gaskets - Is it necessary to PB blast and remove the flue collar and outlet cover to apply a new gasket (cut to fit flat gasket from Woodman’s)? If I do so, where can I obtain new cheesehead bolts that are appropriate - a big box store?
Burn Plates - Seeking conformation that the photo shows these as being in good shape and not requiring replacement.
White Residue - See photo. This chalky dust wipes off. Is this evidence of overfiring, moisture or something else? Rear of stove is not damaged.
Touch Up Paint - I’ve already ordered the Jotul paint. Clean spots with sandpaper and apply with hairdryer between coats?
Thanks!
