The sides do not get rope in those channels. That is for cement. The top does get a gasket. Most likely 3/8in.
Also, you have just a Jotul 3, not a F3.
That is an earlier generation of the stove, without the more modern airtight burn system. The rotary damper on the front is not as efficient as the later stove, though they work fine and put out a lot of heat.
