St Croix Hastings pellet stove: $5000
6 tons of Okanagan Douglas Fir Pellets $345 each
Loveless Ash Vac: $120
Telling the oil man no thank you when he wants to make a delivery: PRICELESS

Timfrommass...... Over $2000 just for pellet's?, I would NEVER EVER pay that, sorry buddy you are not saving anything from burning oil or PP, NG is dirt cheap and had a estimate to switch and said I'll be paying $600 a year to heat my cape, $250 a ton would be a most max limit I'd ever spend., said that when I first saw pellet's selling for $180 when they were for year's at $134 a ton at HD.
Agree.... don't need to pay over 250.00 ton for heat..Plenty of middle of the road and up pellets South of 250.00 that will keep you plenty warm all Winter. Might be more Ash for some brands but if u vacuum regularly and get No Hard Clinkers what the difference.
If you spend the time reading, This Forum can steer you away from the Pure Crap "dog food" that is out there..[For next year since u already have your winter stash]>>

I have just over a ton of Barefoot from my first season.... and 3 new tons of LaCretes delivered in July. I'M READY :)

It's a bit like asking, why buy a Mercedes when a Ford Focus will do. Or why buy a house when an apartment will do the job. Sometimes, you just want something better.

Your Right on Tim. but 345.00 a ton? I don't care how clean they burn, For $100.00 more per Ton they better leave my stove Next Spring in Exactly the same condition it is now, Pre-Winter cleaned and all..

Yes, they are an expensive pellet but the price isn't too far off from other varieties in my area:

Okanagan Gold $295/ton
Okanagan Platinum $299/ton
Skana Platinum $299/ton
Sprice Pointe Premium $360/ton
Lacrete $360/1.2ton

Sorry about busting all your butt's, Today got a decent quote on switching to NG, top of the line furnace, so after 15+ year's of burning pellet's might be the end of the road for me........hopefully, just use the stove for some ambiance when i feel like taking some Cialis....haha

There is NG and town sewer 1 street away on 3 sides of me. I've got no NG and private septic as does everyone in my immediate area.

PK, This must be sweet music to your ears. They ran the gas line up my road about 800 feet from my property. Wanted 6K to bring to my house, Like I'm going to pay them to buy their product, I don't think so. I'm sure you will enjoy!

Tim, When you can buy the Mercedes instead of the Ford or eat caviar instead of macaroni and cheese. Why not just turn up the t-stat. Why? Because for me it's a challenge to see how much I can keep the cost down for heating my home. I absolutely hate buying oil. By the way, I do drive a Mercedes but my go to is an F150.
Macaroni and cheese.

I love mac and cheese.

My Land Rover is waiting until I pay off the Honda, Subaru, student loans, mortgage, kids...

At least those pellets are paid for. ;lol

I love mac and cheese.

Keep it simple and you'll always be satisfied. My cheapo food is oatmeal sold in 50-pound bags to pinch all the pennies. Best of all, I convinced my wife that oatmeal every day is charming by calling it "porridge." ;)

They grind up beef just like trees. Why do you think mad cow got going. Pelletizing something for feed they should not have.

It is not hard to make that F150 cost the same as a Mercedes! My father in law has always said that buying a new truck is silly. Why have a payment on something you put a dead animal in?
Haha, and my father has had a new F150 3 times in the last 10 years. I guess everyone has their thoughts on trucks, heating, politics, religion, and (name your debate here)

For me,the challenge is reducing the work as much as possible. The hotter pellet means I can turn the stove down which also means longer time between fills. The cleaner pellets mean longer time between cleanings. As long as I don't go broke, I'm all about convenience.

One ton of Blazers DF ready to go.. My first winter with pellets..

Not fair though, is this is just a single room, help the wood stove when the wife doesn't want to mess with it, heater.

7 cord of dough fir, ash and maple stacked and seasoned for the wood stove :)

I'll probably be crying mid February when I need pellets. Thankfully, we don't usually run dry over here to my knowledge
