it's okay. The outside firepit is awaiting you and the nicer weather!

I let the fire go out for the year on Wednesday, now I'm having second thoughts...
I think I might reload and plan for a fire every evening and overnight. The hum of the heat pump isn't doing it for me when it has been 4°c (39°f) overnight.

Not quite time here... Next couple days are rainy won't break 40 and I know we've got at least one night in the low 20s coming up. With that said I have been doing a lot more cold starts lately and it's getting pretty annoying so I may start to run the heat a little bit.

If I recall correctly is was 10C in Atlanta recently so don't clean it yet. Here in PEI were are going below 0C tonight and I'm running 24/7 until it warms up

I burn in the mornings. Its been getting into the upper 20s, and damp. I run for about 3 to 4 hours, then it warms up outside.

I never say never. I normally get a few more lower 30 degree nights. Just scaled back the wood on the side porch.

We haven't burned 24/7 for a couple of weeks now. It's getting close to season end for us but it looks like a few chill chasers will be needed coming up next week.

I’ve been burning 24/7 for the last week. Had 3” snow last night and it looks like I will continue burning at least for another week. When it warms up into the 50’s I can get away with a single evening fire but 30-40’s I’ll go 12 hour reload schedule.

1/2 load in the king today consisting of 2 large hunks of cherry, 1 medium piece of cherry and 2 maple chunks. Cool and damp overnight got the house into the low 60s so instead of firing up the heat a fire will do the job. We aren’t done yet, either. Today is cloudy and mid 40s so no solar gain.

I just play it by ear. I have a finished basement and that's where I spend most of my time when I'm inside. No more big fires for sure. I have lots of eastern red cedar on my place so I think I really need to cut and split some of that for short term fires.

I’m a sucker. I lied, lol.1 more!

Not done yet- I'll burn into May if its chilly, but like all are saying, its separate single burns now... The gas stoves will run as needed too if I don't light up the stove. There's something just soothing about the wood stove, its nice having the ability to not having to light it, as opposed to wanting to light her up. Stay warm all, summer's coming.
