You only seal around the vent at the thimble outside the house and high temp silicone is what is used.
Is any portion of that joint inside that thimble????
If so, you have to get it out of there.
yes the joint between pipes is about 1.5" inside the thimble. I sealed the joint with a heavy layer of high Temp silicone. I tried to get the pipe outside of the thimble but every time I adjust the stove to get it closer to the wall so the pipe would go out further the vertical pipe inside ends up off (angled).
I had to 45 the pipe off the stove and this caused some issues with hitting the length just right.
I had read also that some have used clear silicone with ratings below freezing and up to 400 degrees. Is this true?
