I brought my Thermal imaging camera home last night to take a quick peek at the insulation in my walls, it was actually better than I expected!
Anyway I had the stove cranked up so I thought it might look pretty cool to see the stove "lit up" First pic is the 3100I running full bore and the second is my 25 PDVC 10 minutes after shutdown.

pretty cool pics...

Cool pics.

I have thought about renting a Thermal imaging camera to help in my quest of tightening up the home (cuz I don't have any cool friends that can get their hands on one. :cheese: )

Do most of these have a wide range of temps, or are they somewhat temp specific (like 0-100 or 100 to 1000)

I'm not sure of the exact specs but as you can see here it measures upward of 1000 °F on these deisel turbo's.
If you look im the pic, the low is 53 and the high is 956

I have HEARD, though never explored, that you can get your NG company (if you even have one, lol) to come out and do that for you. I don't know if that's true with all companies, just some, or none. I'm not really sure why a NG company would want to help you tighten your home up and therefore have you use less fuel.

Same scenario as the electric co. offering rebates on energy efficient lamps and ballasts, it's all Government incentive $$$$$$$$$$

No NG for me. I am propane, and its a mom and pop shop (although a fair large one). They do not offer such services. Now - if I can just get woodporn to send me that many thousands of dollars camera out here for a day....

Very nice thermal imaging . . . what's the make/model of the TIC?

The Cam is a Fluke Ti32 was 10,000 + this past summer. I finally convinced the upper Mgt. that they could save $$ using this over outside contractors for Elec. mainternance, roof leaks etc,etc...

The 107 °F on the shutdown door is correct, it is surprisingLEE cool because it is a pellet stove, the combustion fan actuaLEE runs for roughLEE 10-15 mins after shutdown.

Naw, not everybody. Several maybe....

I can see this replacing the probe thermometer obsession...
