You have to wonder when it will moderate a bit. It's real cold here and supposed to stay cold through next week with wind chills way below zero and ambients only in the teens.

I'm sucking down pellets (and corn) big time again with no end in sight.

Was hoping for a carrover to next year of a ton but if it stays like this, that won't be happening.

Welcome to my world - oh wait, your world is warmer :)

Heading for 7 tonight, expect another foot of snow and -5 Saturday. Between the cold and the snow, if I hadn't switched to pellet heat this year I would be flat out of cash. I paid $600 to get my roof shoveled the other day, and if i was still on electric heat my bill would be $1000 a month. Other folks in town have been quoted $1100 to remove the tons of snow off their roofs. Worst winter I've seen since we moved here 18 years ago.

-2 this morning, at best -teens for weekend (if lucky, not lower than my low this season of -18). Supposed to go see the dog sledding tomorrow but if the winds and snow kick up early in the day, may just stay home and watch the stoves feed themselves.

I'm tired of the flame though appreciate the flame of my stove. Last week I contracted some stupid bug and which turned into a secondary infection, I laid for four days camped out on the couch watching the flame. Ya know what, that gets boring after a while ? It is captivating though.

Anyway, meanwhile it's 8 deg out this morning, breezy @16 from the NW, and 74 in my dining room. Not complaining !!

We are already over 90" of snow for the season so far with another 12" or so forecasted for this weekend in addition to the -20F windchill.

Not in the class you guys have but damned cold for here headed for 7 tonight with 40 mile an hour gusts. And this is the warm night for the rest of the week and wind supposed to pick up.

+1, this is supposed to be a "Southern Town". Until it isn't.

Pretty much figuring on the three-day holiday weekend spent right next to the stove -- notice I'm no longer asking "how can I turn this stove lower?" ;)

Worst part of "the South". Hurricanes, cold, hot and humid and nobody knows how to make good gravy.

You get the hurricanes, we get hurricanes turned into rain events......

Last year we got the snow and the cold (midwest) this year it's cold but the snow has abated for the most part. Certainly hasn't abated out east snow wise.....

Got up to zero. Its a heat wave right now... 5 above. Time for the shorts...

Not real fond of grits either==c Dipped below -20F the other night and Hubby had to leave the Spark home because the wheels had frozen and refused to budge ... warmer the day before with 7" of snow. Plows were busy on the highways so our secondary highway to the house provided him with a challenge. 3 - 4 degree temperature change and it was ready to roll...

?? Always got good biscuits and sausage gravy south of the Mason Dixie line. Grits are more regional in how they are prepared in my experience. Quick grits should be banned.
Supposed to have the new manifold for the Jeep in tomorrow so will have to run both stoves in garage shop to keep up with the not above zero temps coming tomorrow with more high winds. My luck the mailman won't come to work again. They have no backups here after the last carrier flipped her car before Christmas running in foul weather.

Yep, it was +8 about an hour ago when I ran to Home Depot. Windy too. Hey, but we get to see the sun for the first time in forever.

We have some excellent gravy and grits although I am not a fan of the grits much. You are eating at the wrong places.

It is miserably cold here. Not as bad as last year but we are seeing some single digits and below 0 wind chills. I don't even want to think about this coming week since I will be outside in it for 12 hr. days again. Currently I am 50 shades of red from wind burn from Mon-Thurs. You all want to feel cold come and hang with me for 12 hrs. a day outside in this crap. I could use some extra help about now. We are burn barrel hovering fools there! I personally do not expect guys to work in this junk but that is not my decision there. Have to do what the owner and money wants. They will not reschedule the KY Derby. The saying is around the job site, "Derby don't care."

On the plus side we've been lucky on the snow this year. Had one 5 inch dose on Nov. 17th and today we are getting some accumulating snow. Probably only a couple of inches possibly with highs around 5-6 tonight without wind chill. We have had some ice and freezing rains though which are worse than snow. It is cold and it is Feb. I think it's time to go club that damn ground hog to death...... LOL!

Stay warm my friends and when you think cold think about my miserable azz working out in it! Have a chuckle and enjoy it as you stare at the nice hot fire. Jerks!

I am dreading this coming week of work. What we are doing is hard enough then toss in the ugly weather and it equals no fun at all.

Hey . . . NY Yankees pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training on Feb 20....I have enough pellets to get through!! [about 1.5 tons left of this year's stash]

P.S.: About 6° out at the moment.

I can't believe this is happening right in the middle of winter. Who woulda thunk it?

:-)

Cant believe how long the jet stream has lasted, blasting eastern half of the country with bitter cold but the western half has seen above normal temps, Have neever seen a forecast for Ct were all next week will be -8 below most nights, this isnt mid jan it's mid feb and it should be hitting the '40's and low mid 20's
This is alot worse than last winter were it never went barely below zero.

Look on the bright side, imagine how cold it would be without global warming.
WE had the 9th coldest November on the books and this AM the forecasters predict one of the coldest February's probably too and that's cold for MN but we are getting more daylights hours:)

Snowing to beat the band here today and the mercury is supposed to hibernate this afternoon. 5 weeks to spring...humbug.

Actually, the bitter cold is good for me. Less pesticide applied to crops.

It's positively frightful here. Went out to feed stock and everything is going sideways and snowing hard. I need a winter home in Florida.

Apparently a warrant out for the arrest of Phil.... ;lol

Thanks but no, usually feet and hands can't take much more than the hour or so to clear the driveways :(

I think its a "shoot on site" order. Rabbit just girdled our 3 year old Crimson Maple and there was both corn and hay available too. If the moon is out tonight there may be a menu change for tomorrows dinner if there's enough left.

I'm looking on the bright side, I did have to work outside (in Indiana) yesterday and it was cold then. Today, I can stay inside and look outside.... Central heat plant has been cycling off and on, the stove can't quite hold on in the wind.
