Been thinking about that Tom. Think I'll need to get a step stool too so I can reach the top to empty the bag in. 5'3" doesn't reach too far!Melissa, you need to get a pellet hopper extension. It allows you to roughly double the amount of pellets that your stove can hold. I have them on both of my Harman stoves. I bought them through the dealer, I think I paid around $160 several years ago.
Tom
What she really needs to do is run that baby in Room Temp mode at a set temperature and it will run itself and she won't run out of pellets overnight......Melissa, you need to get a pellet hopper extension. Tom
it was my fault. Experiment really, I knew i should have added another bag before going to bed, but I wanted to see if what was left would carry over for about 6 hours. I found out. NOT. I have yet to really discover how long a bag will last me. So far, I can't imagine burning just a bag every other day like Mighty Moe.What she really needs to do is run that baby in Room Temp mode at a set temperature and it will run itself and she won't run out of pellets overnight......

This is very true. And I sincerely doubt I will see a bag every other day.It is called insulation and how large the space to heat is.

For funnsies here is the calculated BTU loss for my home via energy audit.
October - 19k BTU per hour
November - 29k BTU per hour
December - 37k BTU per hour
January - 39k BTU per hour
Feburary - 34k BTU per hour
March - 27,274 BTU per hour
April - 16,538 BTU per hour
I have recently stopped setting back, but when I was, I was probably saving a good 1/4-1/2 bag. So with my BTUs per hour, I expect a bag a day minimum, and up to 3 bags a day. My current usage seems to match up SOMEWHAT with the audit. If I was setting back, I could probably save 200-300$ over the span of the heating season.
My design heat loss is 54k BTU per hour. (The minimum rating a device could have and heat the home to effectively / comfortably.)
.
My gross heat loss is 169 million BTUS but after energy flows (Solar / Internal)
134 million or around 418 bags.
However, with real world numbers based on fuel usage, I would say I went through around 112 million BTUs last year, or around 350 bags. I did heat DHW with the oil though, so I'm hoping 5 pallets will be enough, but I'm not crossing my fingers =) Last year was also one of the colder winters, breaking a record even for coldest january, weeks with highs of -20 / -30s.
Food for thought!

Hopefully you find it soon. Your car won't move without it...Also lost the transmission in our 88 Accord yesterday.
Must have been localized to your area as I did not have any white stuff (can't say the word yet). We're both from 'central Maine' which of course covers a large area!Woke up at 530 this morning to snow. Had about 3/4" then it changed to all rain by around 10am. Def was not ready for the white blanket.

Lol 530 is sleeping in for me. Weekdays it's 3:00 sometimes earlier. No snow here, oh 5:30, couldn't tell you about that time. I don't recognize that as being a valid time of day .
