I am considering buying an Atlanta Stove Works #27 box to install in my garage. The garage is about 30 X 20. Do you think this is of sufficient size to heat it, assuming it is in good working order?

Check codes and insurance coverage as wood stoves are generally not allowed with good reason. That said I heated my garage / shop at our last house that way. When we sold the house the buyer's insuance co. required I remove stove and chimney. If you still go ahead this box stove should give sufficient heat. We lived for a while in an 20x30 old carriage house and heated with the same or similar stove, our first time heating with wood with much to learn, and obviously some still. The older versions were very far from tight. With the straight through draft it was easy to get things glowing. While likely somewhat tighter now you definitely will need to add a damper to you pipe.

I have an Atlanta Stove Works Box 27 given to me by my father 35 years ago. I’ve used it when we lived in Nebraska: we now live in Tennessee. We recently enclosed our patio to make it an all-around room ( man cave). The stove really pops.
