I believe the St Croix Element was designed for your purpose and I imagine it has room temp control. They make a good stove, I came very close to buying a Prescott before settling on the P61.. St Croix stoves are well made.

the Element would work out great for my install but all those passages that need cleaning would be a hassle I don't have now.I have absolutely no need to buy a stove now so will have to see whats out there if the time comes I do decide to buy another stove.

could care less if you bought one but clearance to my wall is 9" each corner..not much at all.
Also have side covers on both sides.

mine is not across the corner, it's straight in the corner, wall on left side, open on right side, makes a big difference for side clearance

Look at the new Harman Absolute. If it is big enough I think you will find the clearances at 6 and 1/4 inches to be very reasonable. And there are side vents!

And it is beautiful!

the absolute does actually only need 6" side wall clearance so it would probably work and it is the best looking harman so it may be an option if or when I decide to get another stove.

How much side clearance you need? The P61 and 68 need huge clearances, but the P43 is not so much, especially if you get the side panels. A corner install only needs 9" clearance from the back of the stove itself (not the back of the hopper), so that is practically zero clearance (although you need to think about needing to clean it). My P43 takes less space than my Hastings did all told.

However, if you are going for looks, you will not like a P-series. Maybe the XXV? But, I'm unsure of clearance needed for that. And, the St. Croix Hastings is a nice looking stove too. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it as long as you don't need a huge hopper or the ability to add a hopper extension.

10" clearance with side shields required. I have the side protectors and about 11" clearance to the side for my P43. I put up the separate wall protector only because I'm paranoid. Wall protector just leans against the wall with a slight air space - the wall stays cool to the touch.

right now Bogie I got 7" with the serenity which is manufactures min., but the exhaust on the Serenity is off to the left side of the stove I can move the exhaust to the right a bit and up or down a bit but the stove has to pretty much stay at the same place,It comes down to stove width and exhaust location coming out the back of the stove,the harmans pretty much all have the exhaust coming out the center of the stove which with the width and side clearance is the issue.The Serenity is only 18" wide and the exhaust being on the left side only gives me a small window of movement.To the right of the stove is a window I got the be careful of clearances also.

You better start saving now if you plan to buy a Harman in about 20 yrs. Like you said though about a stove that shuts down when it reaches temp is why I considered a different stove but then I think back to why I bought a Pellet stove to begin with is because I was tired of the warm then cool from the oil burner so why buy a stove to do what I can already do with my oil burner.The constant warmth of the pellet stove is what I like best.When it's not cold enough for the Pellet stove I just let the oil burner do it's thing and so far this year the oil burner has gotten more use then the Pellet stove.

Well as of right now...the pellet stove is my only heat source, so I don't have any other way to take the chill off the house...unfortunately the pellet stove does such a good job, I have had to turn the a/c on a few times upstairs to sleep. I am debating on what backup heat source to go for...my hot water boiler completely bit the dust last winter...which is why I bought the pellet stove after spending money to try and fix it and being ripped off from repair men.

Lenders don't like wood and pellet stoves very well. Only time I had a service in ten years for an appliance is when the wash machine was turning itself on, out of factory warranty, but factory picked up the tab scared of safety issue. The look on the guys face when it came on by itself was priceless. Wish I could have heard the conversation with manufacture. It would have been cheaper for them to get me a new unit for what they all replaced and the return call.
Typical house call is over $75 to knock on the door. Preseason clean and tune of gas furnace is around $100 here.

A couple of years ago a control went on our boiler for the second time. $500 later it was running and the guy said that we had a piece of stack with some rot in it and asked if we wanted him to replace it. Declining that I did it myself. Pulled off the old stack, found the collar going into the chimney chock full of ash, I mean like just a hole for gasses to escape through. Let me take a guess here, fire backfeed, too much heat cooked the last two controls. I remember a time when oil burner techs cleaned that stack on an annual, guess not anymore !! We have had two or three different techs work on this unit because I don't have instruments for electronic controls, i used to do my own on the old mechanical burners. But for that stack to be that full, none of them could have pulled that piping off.

Would like to see a stove with boiler option from Europe. If its as big a pain to keep clean as the Elena I would have to give a pass. Like the ability to walk away for couple days and not have to clean for at least a week.
