I'm looking at some very large LP gas fireplaces. We found a non-combustible mantel we like and want to put it about six inches above the fireplace blower. But the installation guides for these fireplaces talk about vertical clearances of 12" and even up to 22".
If the mantel is non-combustible, within reason, can it go as close to the blower as we want?
