Yeah we have a lot of it around here as well....its worth processing.....good for shoulder season....the main reason I don't think it's Tulip poplar is a tree that size should have the blue and purple streaks in the heartwoodIm

I'm not familiar with basswood, but tulip poplar in fertile soil near a good water source would look and behave exactly like pictured and described. Lots of tulip poplar in MD.
