I am a dummy…..

I cleaned the chimney yesterday and the screws would not hold in place. So, I decided to get the drill and drill into the Duravent double wall. Unfortunately for me, I also drilled through the inner section of the pipe.

My question is this a fire hazard? Do I need to let the stove die out? I will place an order to get replacement pipe, but won’t arrive for a few days. Need to know if ok to run like this until the new pipe arrives. I can hear airflow that was not there before.

I need the telescoping section and the stove top adapter. I am upset with myself, as I should have read the installation instructions that I have from when the stove was installed 11 years ago.

I’d run a screw into the holes & burn it. If you’re worried about leakage, I would add some Black RTV to the threads to seal the holes.

It should be fine left alone, but if you use a longer screw to plug it that should be sufficient.
Single wall has screws protruding into the flue all day long, and if anything, your sucking air into the pipe, not blowing smoke out.

Put in the screw and be done. In the words of Dylan - Don't think twice, it's alright.
