I lost a wrench

I have tools that are missing from my original sets...it happens over 50 years...particularly early on when a bunch of us would be working together on something. I also have a few stray tools from other folks' original sets. It's sort of hand tool Karma, I think. When I look at my very first set of Protos that my dad bought me when I was about 14, I see I'm missing a couple of wrenches, but that's OK. I have more tools than I need, and if I'm missing something critical, I go get another one. If it doesn't exactly match the rest of the set, oh well. It's not an art museum display, it's a bunch of tools. Rick

The way i found works good....
Just have a large mixture of wrenches,lots of different makes and sizes.Then you never miss any particular wrench.Just grab another one.When you run out, clean up your shop and start again.No worries no getting pissed off and you will actually live longer,then if you get stressed about a tool.Better things in life than getting stressed about a 1/2" wrench, even if it is a cool snap on one.

About 25 years ago I visited a junkyard in Cleveland that periodically had sales where they'd give you all the parts you could carry for something like $20...realized too late that I'd left a couple of Snap-On combination wrenches under the car I'd gotten the parts from. I still miss those wrenches.

You could've gone back and gotten them for $20.

Year ago I was working under the hood of my 1970 Chevy Malibu SS with a 454. I laid my wrench on the fender, bumped it, and it fell down between the fender and the shroud on the inside, never to be recovered. Fortunately, it didn't rattle from 0 to a rumored 120+ mph top end. Of course, I wouldn't have any personal knowledge of that 120 mph speed. When I sold the SS, I advertised "tool included."

^^^Lol^^^ One of the 1/4" sockets I lost (or it might have been a 10mm now that I think about it) was on my Nissan Frontier when I was working under the hood and accidentally bumped it down to never-never land. A year later I was replacing the fan clutch and heard a part roll out of the truck and hit the pavement. It was my 10mm socket!! What's amazing is I really used to beat that thing off-road creek climbing or tearing through fields at 55mph. Somehow all that bouncing or the pressure washing afterwards didn't lodge it loose.

I have several 10mm sockets in a few cars, love to know who and how they found them .

Now that you mention it, the last thing I did with that wrench was work on my street daughters vw. Now I have somewhere to look

Buy a new wrench to replace the lost one . . . that way you'll almost be guaranteed to find the lost one within 10 minutes of getting home with the new wrench.

Lost this RR spike knife shortly after move in 12 years ago. Had to shim a pole under a new stack today, and there she was. Got some sanding to do.

Isn't that the truth! I spent 30 minutes last week tearing my garage apart looking for ear muffs before going outside to cut some wood. I knew I used them just the day before when I was mowing. I eventually gave up and got some foam ear plugs. Then several nights later, as I'm watching TV, I see them sitting by a shelf near the front door. I think when I was finished mowing I ran upstairs with them on for an emergency deuce and forgot I left them there.

Brother had a medic alert necklace that fell off while swimming in roughly 10 ft of lake water. Years later somebody found it washed up in 3 or 4 ft of water.

Gotta good omen.Had the kids out in the NForest scouting the other day. Son found an arrow from a deer I got back in 2004 or so. I'll re-fletch it, should be good to go.

They have meds for ADD and OCD. I was good on the first until I had kids, and suffered from the second before I had kids. Now, it is the opposite way around. I cannot remember anything nowadays, but I don't really worry too much about everything being out of order except for client files.

Looks straight as an arrow (pun intended). Shoot fly smooth as can be. That there is the reason I shoot carbon. Either it is still good or it is broken. Of course, carbon doesn't jive with traditionalists, etc. Then again, neither should aluminum. Surprised you aren't using wooden arrows.

I shoot woods now, this is from before I switched. Shot that deer with a new fangled 80's Ben Pearson compound I got in high school.
