I could be wrong but I think the early Cougars were based on the Mustang platform and later on the T-Bird.I prefer the car to the pellets. nice job.....Cougar, same platform as Thunderbird for that time?

Damn, we are so smart here....(and obviously old)Yep, Cougar was on the same chassis as a 69 Stang. They didn't group them into the luxury class until the mid 70's where they shared the T-bird chassis(full frame). Early 80's they went back to being a cousin to the Mustang on the fox chassis(same wheel base). T-bird-Fairmont and some lincolns were also on the Fox chassis with a longer wheel base.

Well i feel pretty good. Went to get an inspection sticker guy said a guy restores them right down the road. So i stopped in. He wouldnt price the car since he was interested in buying it but i told him i paid 12,500 ( i lied ) and he said i did good so i guess i got a good deal

Yep, Well I remember the dinosaurs. You my friend might be closer to the dirt age.
And I'm wrong even. The Cougar was still sistered to the T-birds in the 80's. The Capri was what I was thinking of. It was the cousin of the Mustang in the 80's. Luckily a smarter member has corrected me!
Ok back to being old, That I'm pretty good at! Carry on!

I invented dirt and have the patent to prove it..
I'm a FORD freak
FORD backwards is Driver Returns On Foot.
I have a 2010 Ford now that I'm not all that happy with. Needs a wheel bearing at 46,000 miles, and I just had to replace an ignition coil for $120. for the part. And, an irony - the Ford emblem fell off the tailgate.
I grew up in one of those with my dad. It was a pretty car, rootbeer colored. Headlights opened when you turned them on. Sweet shifter.
I restored a 67 Buick Skylark GS with 340 2 speed tranny way back when. 90 mph in FIRST gear. Carter 4 bbl Nice honkin sound
SWEET OMV
Had a PowerGlide in my '66 Chevy II SS....bulletproof.Powerglide.... 2 Speeds, Fast and Faster!
