I still don't see the big attraction with the programmable t-stats. I work in a paper mill, day shift, my wife works at home.

Hoss, the programmable stats are better for people that are out all day, and still want the house warm when they get home. The added benefit is the ability to have the house warm up a little before you get up. I agree, if there's someone home all the time, it really isn't necessary.

I did drill the ignitor hole slightly larger, and it did start in 10 minutes. I'll experiment with various initial pellet feeds and hopefully I'll get a quicker start. Thanks again for the advice!

I too am a newbie and have the NPS40. I have replaced the burn pot (hole was at <1/4 in), temp sensor (Stove shut down at the end of any start cycle). Now the questions - my stove is only putting out 90F heat, is only slightly warm to the touch. Air is set at 2-3 and the feed at 2-3, burn pot seems to be filling to the rim. I'm not sure which way to turn now. Stove has been on for 3 hours and raised room temp only 3 F (50 - 53)

Thoughts?

That sounds like an air to fuel issue. Pull the air control rod all the way out. This is how I run mine all the time now, it just seems to work better. When I tried to match the air to the feed rate I got similiar issues.
