OH AND HERE'S A THOUGHT FOR ALL THE ENTHUSIASTS WHO WANT TO DO THE NUMBERS, SHOULDN'T THEY DO STUDIES ON HOW MANY PEOPLE GET SERIOUS BURNS (EVEN MINOR ONES), VS. HOW MANY HOUSES ACTUALLY BURN DOWN. WE THEM BURN DOWN HOUSES OUTNUMBERED......(LAUGHING)

I have 3 still healing burns right now. My Olympic gets me all the time on the front burn tube when I'm trying to stack two logs on top of one another in the back of the stove for an overnight burn. Jiggle, jiggle, push "psssss OoooowwwwwW $&*%(!" Those burn tubes get HOT.

One thing I will say about catalytic vs. non-catalytic stoves- my not-cat bites we way more than my cat ever did thanks to those burn tubes.

Fairly regularly, yes. But nothing I hafta goto the Emergency room for. Mostly the back of the hand when loading in that big mother for the night.......................

maybe I should get a pair of them fireplace gloves or something but that just seems kinda well wimpy. CT. Arborist

I'm sure you are right. Burning the crap out of your self on a regular basis is much more manly! :)

Welder's gloves from eBay=priceless

Lincoln welder goves at HD $14. They are great!! :-)

Have not been burned since started wearing gloves. I cannot imagine not wearing gloves now. I don't know how many times I've caught a coal coming out of the box with my gloves. One day I'll forget to put them on and be in the habit of grabbing hot coals and.... So far nothing though. I did burn my finger and thumb trying to straighten out a sawzall blade while cutting up a pallet though. It had the teeth marks on the blisters ;-)

I use welder gloves but I still will bump my forearm above the glove every once in a while. The wife says I look like I self inflict myself because I alw3ays have a small mark or two all winter long.

Maybe once or twice, never anything major. Just bought a pair of welding gloves last night, because it gets rough trying to reach in that big firebox with a full load of coals going. It burns, but it doesn't leave a burn.

I always wear welding gloves but I almost burned my leg(wearing shorts) by walking into the open front door. I now close it after each arm load.

To think it is manly to work with a stove without gloves is downright stupid. That being said, I still get one burn a year somehow. And I do always wear gloves.

I've also noticed there are many who won't wear gloves around the stove but really get on my case because I don't wear a helmet when I ride my bicycle! Geeze......

Only once since I started burning this year. I did plenty in the past, though.

The firebox is much hotter in this stove than any stove I've had in the past. The blast furnace effect suprises me often when I'm stirring up coals.

Once or twice a week. That hook on the door latch on my 13nc gets me everytime. Those danged secondary tubes are pretty hot too. They tend to get me when i stack for overnight burn. Id say 20 or so times this season thus far.

well at least I'm not the only one, hey kenny you think a hammer is funny you should see get get jiggy with a chainsaw!!! :bug:

Well as any good story begins. We wuz all drunk.......lol

I had a few glasses of merlot, but I don't think that really contributed to it. The stove had burnt down to the coals. It was night time and I didn't have any lights on, so the room was very dark. I was laying on the floor in front of the stove and decided to throw a few splits in it. Instead of standing up or squating, I remained seated. I opened the door wide open, turned to reach for a few splits and hit my cheek on the edge of the door when I turned back.

As I look around for some wood to knock on (guess my head will suffice), I can't say that I ever burn myself around the stove. Yea, I wear gloves when I load or do ash cleanouts - see my slogan below as to why.

Even with welding gloves I still get 2-3 burns per year. Probably a corallation with my BOC! (blood alcohol count) :-)

Only once that left a mark, (cool airwash circles), and maybe 3-4 times ever. No gloves. I guess it's the years of welding and metal casting, but so far I've been lucky/careful. How many times burnt welding? Couldn't count.

Okay, concensus has it. Is Obama gonna give us a deduction or rebate for alternative fuel burns. Wouldn't this fall under using alt. fuel bill. LOLOLOL. I knew I wasn't the only retard out there burning and tearing up myself. Whew...now I can sleep soundly....teee hee hee, but a nice rebate or deduction would make that sleep all that much sweeter as I roll over and crush the bandage on my left wrist.

People who heat with wood sure are a different bunch. Now I know why I'm so weird. I have one strip on my right arm from reaching deep into a top loader. Caught me right where the welding glove ended. This is the worst burn in over 12 years after a few weeks with a top loader. Learned my lesson. Don't reach in too far.

I was just thinking I'm going to need antibiotics for my burn . I got it just as you did!

I get burnt constantly im a welder so theres my daytime burns i burn wood so theres my evening burns middle of the night reloads thats my late night fill of the pain.lol

Looks like I'm running even with 2-3 burns (lines across my wrist forearm) when I brave the side loader without the welders gloves.

Just look at as the stove giving some love back!
