How much wood have you burned this year?

About 4.5 cords, but I have consumed a little more propane this year. About 400-500 gal of stuff. We have had some big winds during the coldest parts of the winter this year, not to mention a pretty cold winter all the way around. And I don't get up in the middle of the night to load the stove.

I went through 1.75 Holz Haufens so I estimate under 3 cords. I don't run the insert unless it stays in the low 30s for eight or more hours. I ran it wide open a lot this year for the first 15-20 minutes after loading up to keep the creosote factor to a minimum (hopefully). I hope to have 4 HHs stacked all in a neat row near the back of my driveway by Memorial Day. All of the wood has been already been split, although most of it two miles away in a beegggg pile. By Fall I hope to be two years ahead.
3 full cords so far. I have been burning 3 year old red oak and 1 year old white ash and some standing dead elm. I have 9 full cords of red oak and white ash and some elm split and stacked. Most of that is white ash.
The emerald ash borer has devestaded the white ash in Michigan. I could probably burn white ash for the rest of my life and still not make a dent in all the dead trees in my area.

I have averaged out my consumption to 1.16 cord a month, thats burning 24/7. That will put me at just over 9 cord burning from the first week in October to last week in May.
Even at 2 cords of oak and maple....ran out for this year, but was my first year of burning.

Probably about a little over 4 cords since mid oct. Not bad for my 1st yr. I have to force myself to not keep feeding the beast and wait for her too burn down to a nice coal bed before reloading. Still learning, but loving it so far. Only used about 250gal of oil for hot water and a week or two when I blew out my back and wasn't burning.
Probably between five and six cords here. Kind of hard to tell as it was all in a heap and never stacked to measure it. And I'm not done yet--probably will burn for three or four weeks.
Hot water use was about 50 gallons of oil a month! Need to get rid of that and I'll really be saving some money.

first year burner and clearly still learning how to use this stove - wood wasn't ever stacked, just a big pile in the driveway and it was neverending always adding to it. I figure that i burned about 3-3.25 cords since 13 Dec. starting to stack now so i am gonna get a handle on how much i burn next year - gonna try to go into it with about 5 cords and see what happens

My first year heating with a Kozy Heat Z42. We have bought 4 cords and still have enough left to finish the season. I like to milk the wood and damper it - but my wife who's home all day runs that baby full throttle and really gets the heat out of it. I think we are rookies and probably burned more than we should have - but it was a cold year.
Last year we spent over $ 5,500 in propane (price per gal was high) This year - we shut off the thermostat and burned wood only. My propane consumption for the season was around $ 500 total and my cost for 4 cords was $ 170. per.
I am extremely pleased with my savings!~

Sorry I asked this once before..a cord is 4x4x8 right & you're all referring to such dimensions.

you went through more than 1500 cubic feet of wood (if my math is correct)....crap what are your re-load intervals & how many stoves are you running?

Diabel, you are correct with your size of a cord.
It is amazing how much wood some people go through but just think what that would cost using fuel oil, propane or gas!
I think also that people almost always will keep their homes warmer with wood than if they are using the thermostat. So not only are they saving some big dollars, they are staying much more comfortable. That is one of the big joys of heating with wood. Don't you love it?!

I pick my wood from three different piles & I always had a hard time trying to figure out what I used in a season. Well, I just went & checked it out....I have burnt 619,552 cubic inches = 2.8 cords.
