I burn mid oct. to end of march... not quite 24/7.... maybe dec jan 24/7

Mostly oak, seasoned 18 months. I expect to burn seasoned wood all winter.

This will be first year with an efficient stove (quadrafire 7100).

Just wondered does anyone calculate how much they anticipate burning.

Can't think I'll burn more than 3 cords.

No matter what.... I'm still scrounging..... even in this heat!!!

2000 sq ft house with average insulation/// lots of high ceilings.
Fireplace is downstairs on 1st floor. 2nd floor opens up to bedroom.

Well here in CT you'd go through more than 3 cords heating 2000 sg ft, but I'm guessing you'll be pretty close to 3 cords of oak in Arkansas since your winters I would assume are more mild. Enjoy the new stove!

8 cords.... Only because you have 7.

Fate works that way for me. Hopefully you have more luck.

Matt

I worked in Hot Springs Arkansas way back in 1997, miss that nice area :)
You should be fine for probably 2 years with 7 full cords, but like you said, always get the free stuff if you can. You never know what the future holds :ohh:
Nice choice on the Quad 7100

i burn 4.5 - 5 cords a year with my quad 7100 in NW Jersey (Nov-March) 24/7. My buddy nearby burns 6-7 a year with his 7100, but burns from 0ct-May.
