how much gas do you keep on hand

When I lost my fuel pump a few years ago, dang it was way back in 2001, I tried to siphon. Luck would have it I just filled up a 22 gal tank. No such luck. When I dropped my tank I found that there was a little ball that floated up allowing the gas down into the tank. There is no way to siphon, at least not in my truck.

The fuel rail pressure connection, at least on all of mine (GM), is 1/4" flare with a schrader fitting. An old refrigerant service hose will connect right up to this and allow you to "bleed" the car for some fuel. No chance of poisoning and very little mess. Just don't walk away from the car while it's running.
