HOW MANY CORD MEN?

i have roughly 4 cords split and stacked of mainly white oak with locust and kentucky coffeebean mixed in. i dont cut or split any in the summer,i like to do it when its cold out. no ticks,mosquitos or rattleheadedcoppermoccasins to deal with it also gets my fat butt out of the house thru the winter when there is not much else to do.

Six full cords of mixed hardwood that are split and stacked. Another full three cords of mostly white pine and some punky hardwood split and stacked for camping. I traded in my Husky 55 Rancher for a Husky 346xp with a 16" bar. It's very light and quite powerfull for such a small displacement saw. I'd like to pick up a 385xp with a large bar for the big stuff.

Yes, I would recoment the 357xp with the 20" bar any day of the week. ITs a hog of a saw and I havent found anything that it couldnt handle yet!

6 cords cut split stacked. 7 cords 2 years old split that needs stacking. Two cords of large 16/20" rounds
2 more cords cut split this year but not stacked yet. I have another 4 cords comming in I have yet to pick up yet.
Got another cord of 3" or less rounds needs stacking and still scrounging. Wood processing is a year round project.
I will be burning 2 stoves 24/7. I will post pictures of my setup

3.28 cord. 3.28 pretending all splits are 18", so probably somewhere around 3 cord. I'll have to post a picture of my pellet stack. J/K ;-)

at least 6 cord stacked. I didn't quite keep pace with my burning this winter but I did ok. I'll be messing with the wood a bit tomorrow. did some chainsawing today.

It's mostly beech and hard maple, with a little yellow birch thrown in for flavoring.

Here's what the woodlot looks like after I'm done. Not great, but a lot better than before the thinning.

I am behind. According to the handy calculator supplied, I have 1.7 cord. I burnt about 3.5 last year, and it was a rather warm winter.

Gonna kick it up a notch real soon as soon as the Lyme's symptoms go away.

My goal is to be a year ahead by Sepetember.

I was out splitting tonight...really sweating at this point... With what's not split and in my yard...10.5 cords. If I count what's on the ground at my other wood sources, at least 12 cords. BUT and It's a pretty big but (BUTT), at least 4 cords is Pine. Pine is at least as much work to split as elm (and you all know I love to hate elm), but bout 1/2 the heating value. But, it's free, delivered, and cut to lengths. So, a good deal. I'll use it for getting the Os up to temp in the moring.

3 cords of oak, 1 cord of maple, and a cord of pine (for kindling) all split and stacked....but the scrounge goes on all summer/fall.....it's good to be the king

I have 8, two year seasoned, full cord, spilt and stacked for this years heating season. It is Maple, Oak and two White Pine.

Here in Southeastern Michigan the Emerald Ash Borer (broken link removed) is killing all Ash Trees. 30-40% of some wood lots. More than 3000 square miles in southeast Michigan are infested and more than 5 million Ash trees are dead or dying from this pest with no end in sight. http://www.michigan.gov/eab

I am starting on next years stack, one large Ash and one Maple in rounds. I could be burning tons of Ash in the future as property owners are forced the clear these standing dead Ash.

Those of you that have woodsheds and pack the wood in tight... Does it still dry in time for burning the next season?

I've never had a problem with the wood drying in time for the burning season, but I do try to get ahead, and get a good stock of rounds cut and piled up, so they have already starting to dry ot a bit before they get split and into the shed. I don't think I would have a problem even if I didn't do that. The shed is in full sun almost all day, and has a lot of ledge around it, which seems to hold a lot of heat, plus there's usually a good breeze, so it definately does get dry. The shed holds just under 8 cord, and I don't have enough level ground anywhere to stack it in well spaced rows.

dan i here ya on the sun burn. i'm a few towns north of you. it was hot this weekend.
i split 2.5 cords and stacked 2.5 i have 1 on the ground waiting to be racked
i'm tired.

Tired! I hear that. My girlfriend saved me though... after the second day of sun, she says " why don't you get one of those canopy things they use on those home improvement shows..."

I ran out and got one - a 10'x10' on sale for $60 and set it up right over the splitter... the sunburn didn't get any worse after that.

where are you located? I grew up in North Reading and work on the North Andover/Haverhill line.

i have one of those canopys but it was in use on the deck.
i even have a 20x10 with screen sides but the wife decided she knows better than the manual and left it out on the deck to get sun baked and rain on to the point where it collapsed.

im in chelmsford

wish i thought of that canopy. i didn't get shade until 2:00 :-/
