After great pain and long suffering the furnace is in place and hooked up. Proper wiring for the fan set up will happen Monday, till then it's a manual set up with the fan always on. Im burning pine and I think this thing is getting way to hot. In side you can see that the tubes and bars and even the "roof" of the fire box is red. It ran wide open till the house reached temp. which took 3 hours as there was no heat on all day for the install and I did have to open the doors to vent some smoke etc. So when do you know it's burning to hot and whats the best way to deal with it. The only thing I can think of is this wasn't made to run pine or I have to much draft from my chimney ????

any thoughts greatly appreciated

How do you know when its overfired? When you run it wideopen for 3 hours and things glow red. Its an easy way to destroy a furnace quickly that way. Get a thermometer for the furnace. That way you watch your temps. If it would get hot enough, the welds could break inside the firebox, warping can occur, etc. Pine has nothing to do with it, and if the draft is too much, you sent alot of heat up the flue. You need to damper it back a little when it hits a certain point, to avoid the overfiring. How long was your loads of wood lasting?
