Stove has recently starting making this sound periodically. It's when it is running, haven't noticed it during start up and shut down, but it might do it then. Husband says a motor, but which one? Is it failing or is there something we can do possibly to save it?

Start by removing the convection fan. Clean it and oil the bearings
You do not say the make of the stove so not sure if the fan motor will have oil D
holes. But a couple of drops on the bearings may help

Thank you, it is a TimberRidge 55-TRP, made by Englander. I'll tell my husband your idea.

Could be either motor exhaust or convection, but if it initially comes on and noise is not there, but comes into play some 10-15 minutes or so later, I'd think its the convection blower. Is it a constant noise or is it sporadic? I got to tell you though, 11 seasons if you are burning 2-3 tons or more a year, those motors have served you well and probably means too that you have kept that unit clean and its sealed pretty well. Stay warm.

I have this stove's sibling (25-PDV) and I remove both motors once a year and oil the bearings. Haven't seen any oil holes but i drip some oil on the shaft and let it work into the bearings. Has kept things quiet so far! But, like Stovelark said, after 11 years, it might just be time.
