I was gonna call you a Yankee. And I for got you call "Coke" pops. But then I kind of thought u were talking coke but was luke they let them have that in the military?

Haha. Oh by the way if ur on a phone or the app and do t see my location I'm in SC.

There's soda pops and then then there's the barley pop. Mmmmmm, barley pop..

I don't care what you call them just don't call too loud because then there is less for me. Yes Clemsonfor I saw your location right away. My buddy is retired USMC just outside Wilmington, NC and that's all I did before leaving was fish on his bass boat and drink Coors Light. Well at least till the end of the night and we get to his house and then it's cocktail hour. He has been calling me a Yankee for years. Term of affection he tells me. Remember, the terms go both ways in good company, redneck! Thanks guys.

What flavor coke do you like...For the rest of you guys not from down south that means what kind of soda/POP do you want! Later.

I like coke but the last few years its been mtn dew. An. More recently the diet version.

Stoveguy, thanks for your kind words, I too am looking forward to welcome home as well. It's time! No one still has had any experience with Wood Splitters Direct. Man, I hope that is not a bad sign. I hope to get my splitter some time around the beginning of December. That seems like a long time but really doesn't matter because I will just be getting out of here around the beginning of December. Hope the shipping goes smooth.
Thanks again to all! This thread may have just stretched to it's max.

Gunny, thank you for your service. God speed your safe return...

then split wood!!!

I dint have a so litter yet. And may be wrong but even those of us in small towns I think still choose to buy our splitters in person? My buddy bought a ZT lawnmower from one of those online sites. Like lawnmowers direct or discount mower.com??? He was happy with the price and service I think.

Thanks mikey. Clemson I agree with you on the in person thing. 1) Tough to do that from here. 2) Iron and Oak has been on hold producing splitters since they, and Brave products, were bought out from Great Northern Equipment Co. I was not even going to buy a splitter because of that but, read an article they will be allowing Iron and Oak to continue producing splitters the same way, for now. I also wanted to get my splitter reserved ahead of time so I can cut down on the wait. I was going to drive to Illinois to pick-up the splitter but the factory only deals with wholesale dealers. There are also shops around the plant that sell splitters but they too have none in stock because of the plant stoppage. We shall see.

Understand about ur situation. My woodcutting buddy has a so litter that I use. Sometimes I hand split. We split at his house and other scrounges I stack at my place then borrow splitter and do all at once.

Did not know about iron n oak?

Yea, I have been hand splitting up in northern Michigan for my father for years. Get pops ready for the winter almost every year along with my brother. My brother is the one who is picking up the splitter with my dump truck when it comes into the nursery. Yes, family friends nursery saved me the tailgate fee. He is happy as hell to pick it up because he splits wood with me every year for pops. I'm not that old (40) and not in bad shape because of the military but splitting wood for 10-12 hrs per day by hand just is not as exciting as it once was. It usually takes me and my brother at least 4-5 days to stockpile enough wood for pops for the winter. I figure we can drop that to about 2-3 with the splitter, at least, and just enjoy a few pops the rest of the time. Beer flavored pops.

I ordered mine - years ago - from Toolfetch.com. That was my only experience with them. It showed up in a crate that I picked up in my truck, took home and assembled it.

Sounds like you'll be returning state side to a great place.. No oak where I live but I do get locust. I was a armorer in the corps. 1998-2002. Get home safe Gunny!

Well Semper Fi and yes ready to return to that place soon. Thanks. We may have shared some of the same stomping grounds in this riding gun club. Been in since 1992.
Well Knots I hope my experience works out. It could be just like you and never need to order anything else from wood splitters direct. I couldn't care less, as long as I get it, it works, and is not damaged. Thanks

I have ordered tons of stuff online at new places all the time. Never any trouble really. But I have not bought something that pricy!!!

Thanks a lot Clemson, that is reassuring! Hope it goes well we will see. The splitter comes off back order November 15th and I am supposed to leave for the states beginning of December so the race is on! Place your bets. Well it is the US Military, I may place my bet on the splitter in first.

Welcome to the forum, Gunny.
I myself did a couple tours in the sandbox, I also found this place during my last rotation on a rare internet opportunity while researching my first pellet stove.
Good luck with the new splitter, I personally found splitting wood the absolute best way to clear my head after returning home, haven't looked back.
Take care,
Nick

Thank you for your service, our thoughts are with you, all armed forces and your families, especially during the holidays....return safe, split wood.....
