Hello! New member here. I am currently supplementing my gas furnace with a Liberator rocket stove which I’ve been using for 6 years. It heats my 1200(-ish)sq ft house reasonably well as long as it is above 20F outside. I’m burning scrap soft maple from a high volume cabinet shop. The stove is very clean burning and loses little heat up the chimney. However, due to the nature of a rocket stove it needs fed every 45-60 minutes and cools quickly as soon as the fire dies. So I am interested in replacing it with a small conventional wood stove. I say small because the lower heat output of the Liberator worked for my house and I would rather run a small stove hot than a large stove cool.
My two picks are down to the Hearthstone Liberator and Morsoe 2b Classic. Both are similar in firebox size and mass(weight). Another member on this forum has helped me with good info on the Morsoe so I am seeking real world info on the Lincoln. I am mostly interested in average temp of the iron top, stone sides and flue temp when cat is engaged. Also, what burn times are you averaging? Finally, if anyone has any pro’s/con’s about cat stoves in general, I’d appreciate the input. I’m a little wary of the added maintenance.
I’m hoping there are a few owners of the Lincoln on the forum as there’s not many owner reviews on YouTube. Many thanks! -John
