Hearthstone II need detailed info on glass gasket installation

I have a H II that came with a home I purchased. Still learning about it. Glass cracked and I bought a replacement piece. The old gasket material is pretty worn and looks kind of rigged up like it may not have been installed properly. Can someone tell me what kind of gasket material I need and how to properly install it?
