I am looking, but I live in a pretty rural area so the closest HD/TSC/lowes is at least 45 minute drive. A 1.5 hour round trip just to look for pellets is a tough to schedule in.

Sometimes I get surprised by some alternative places like small hardware chain stores, like Ace Hardware, or even K-Mart that have pellets.

I don't think I would put much stock in what a "sales associate" says, they have little knowledge as to what corporate is planning, as it is way above their paygrade.

Agreed, sales associates are the oompa-loompas of the company with very little knowledge.

Local HD seems to be caught up. I didn't ask, but they have a few tons in stock based on my walk around the garden center. Many tons had names on them for delivery or pickup. However, they had a few tons that weren't marked. They also had 3 skids open for individual bags further inside the garden center. Above those, they had another 3-4 tons stacked on the shelves. Didn't look like that a month ago.

Current stock: Heatrs and Maine Wood Pellets. I did see a few tons of Stove Chow that were marked for delivery.

Update: got to the local HD and they now are pretty well stocked with pellets. They had a blend for 5.29 bag and some AWF white pines for 5.69 bag. Picked up 5 bags of the AWF to do a trial run after I clean the stove.

A sales associates told me this morning that pellet sales will end in February this heating season due to the pellet shortage, so make sure you have enough pellets to last thru this season before February. Even last year, pellets were still available at this local HD right thru to the end of the season , May here in Maine. There were times last year where availability was hit or miss and a 10 bag limit, but they were never out for more than a week. This only pertains to this heating season, because of the shortage.
Our local HD manager sated no such thing as ending early. HD has enough pellets through March

Oh for pity's sake! This running out in late February stuff happens all the time because they don't want to get stuck with inventory. I stopped buying my pellets from big box stores because they don't react to local needs as well as the smaller ones. My "Do It" hardware just got twenty tons of Lignetics. I won't need any but they keep the area supplied. They had pellets all through last season as well. Say what you will, IMNTBHO the "pellet shortage" is a combination of poor planning, seasonal inventory switching and the inability of big box stores to deviate from a fixed set of suppliers.

True, true, but just remember, it's the poor planning that seems to lead to us getting Blazers for a cheap price!
