Harman XXV & Similar... How are You Cleaning out the Ignitor Box?

Or if you leave the igniter in auto with the door open, the pellets won’t feed with the combustion blower on. Oh the choices! And for me, I clean the igniter box by putting a plastic tube on the end of the vacuum and carefully move it around. The tube came with an accessory kit with my love-less ash vacuum.

On a p series stove, flip the igniter to manual and turn the stove on. This turns on the blower but does not feed pellets.

Sorry I’m still confused ...

1. Do u do all of this with the door open while ur cleaning.

2. Or do u clean the stove and when ur DONE.. THEN close the door and then follow your directions from above.


I don’t understand if u guys are cleaning your stove with the door open AND have the combustion fan running at the same time.

I think you will find lots of us do the brushing while the combustion fan is running.When you get to the point of removing the combustion motor cover,shut it off,and unplug it.with the cover off,it will not blow the dust outside,and you could also damage the impeller.Also,if plugged in,there is a chance the board could be damaged from static discharge,being powered up.Sometimes that is not an option,in inserts.If you do the leaf blower thing first,your cleaning time may be much less.

So yes, as bob said above, I clean with the combustion motor on to keep the ash from coming out of the stove. I use a paint brush to brush the ash from top to bottom with my ash vacuum sucking up most of the ash while using the brush. The motor running sucks whatever ash is blowing around out the stove exhaust. It helps keep the mess to a minimum.

Absolute 63 has the same set up and I've done a lot of what has been recommended. Related, does anyone find the igniter near impossible to latch? It's possible that the igniter box is the same in both the Absolute/XXV and that the latch is different, but without a flashlight and mirror I don't know if I could do it.
