We picked up a 350 lb hunk with the ones I bought (not the Northern brand, but green and orange from I think Bailey's). Wanted a way to snag it with the tractor boom pole and the chain just wouldn't stay. Put the slip hook of my logging chain in the middle of the gripper, and up she came, easy as pie. I was surprised too at how strong they are and how easy they are to use. That said, they aren't for everyone or every situation. But they are handy at times.A member here with just one arm has used them for a few years and loves'em for flinging wood around. I actually wonder if they are strong enough for a little skidding that I need to do.
