Happy 2016 Everyone!

We have been looking for an oven for quite sometime and found a Fisher perfect for us. But where do we start? We have wanted to do this project as homeowners but have little knowledge on where to begin. We will be attaching pictures of our Grandma Bear and look forward to your knowledge on the steps needed to get it burning once again. There are a few threads reconditioning stoves. Make sure you only use metal polish for precious metals on the plated doors.
Wire wheel or sanding is the most aggressive if you have any rust spots. Otherwise a sanding with 220 and wipe with mineral spirits, then lacquer thinner before painting. Stove Bright paints are superior and original black finish is Satin Black. This stove was also available in Metallic Brown and my personal opinion, is what gives the best appearance with brass and glass doors. Not Honey Glo Brown, Metallic Brown which has a purple hue in certain light.
That model may have solid brass draft caps on the side as well. Be careful working around them or better yet, remove and ask questions before you do anything with them!
Far better to paint outside and fire with a couple pieces of pipe than to cure with heat inside.
I don't have a manual for you, (the C is tested to Canadian specs) but when I find one, it will be posted in the manual thread in sticky section.

Thanks for the response Coaly! Just wanted to send a quick update and to see what you think on a couple of things. At this point I'm still working on cleaning out the inside. Most of the bricks on the inside are in pretty good shape, but three of them that were sitting against the back wall are broken. Is there anything I need to know that's special about replacing them? Also, what would you recommend be used to clean out the inside walls above the brick all the way up to the exhaust (previous owner never cleaned it, so creosote is really baked on (petrified) in the inside)? I had just one more question, the stove door rope seals, should I just go ahead and replace them? or are they one of those things that stand the test of time? They still appear to be in decent shape.... Thanks for all the good advice, it's much appreciated.=)

When replacing bricks, just make sure you get every bit of ash out or the new bricks won't fit.

Don't worry about the inside above bricks if it's not loose enough to scrape off. It may flake or burn off when you get it hot enough.

Gaskets look fine. They do wear out by getting hard and crispy or deteriorating away.

Looks like they were burning with primary air open and not enough air wash. Once up to temp you may be able to run with side primary vents closed and front sliders open for the only air to keep glass cleaner.
