I have not been an active poster here but have read many a thread through my first year of burning.
I am starting my piles for next year. This is a little silver maple I scored over the weekend, too bad
the owner got salty with me in the end and wouldn't let me take everything I cut. I guess my 25
year old truck was too dumpy and my 30 year old saw was too fast...oh well, free is free and always
respect another man or womans property.
I'm happy to have it.

Thanks for being here everyone, I look forward to another warm winter burning...
Matthew

Nice score, and Wecome! 30 year old fast saw do tell more?

Faster than his I guess, just cause I replace bars and sharpen chains I gather.
The saw is an Echo made John Deere my Dad bought when I was 8 or so.
I've had it ever since he retired for land owning and John Deere along with
his older than me craftsman axe I get everything done I need. Although
those big rounds take more than a few wacks, I need a wedge or 2 or
a Fiskars.

Thanks for the welcome!

Sweet score, wise man does not cut any more at a time than he can fit in his truck.

Yes a sharp chain will beat most saws..

Good find mdfer and welcome to the forum.

Now get that stuff split and stacked as soon as is humanly possible so they will dry.

Already got half of that split and stacked. I have another free pile to pick up this weekend
all Ash and Maple, I love word of mouth free heat!

Thanks.
