Looks good. When it is delivered to your house for free, pine is great. The best wood is free wood. I like to have a mix. The 3 or 4 log drops I have had were a mix of box elder, hickory, elm, ash, oak, and some cottonwood and willow. Some of the cottonwood and willow was bad enough (a little rotten) that I put it on the burn pile in the back yard and just burned it last weekend to dispose of it. The rest of the dropped wood was good stuff. Some of it was big, though... like 4' diameter. I don't mind bucking the big stuff, but manually positioning and moving the big rounds can be a pain. I use a good cant hook and a big pry bar.

That looks like yellow pine. Can't you get some good white oak?

When I looked at it, I thought "that looks like red pine", but we don't have yellow pine in WI. Looking at the distribution of the two species, it looks like PA has both so I am not sure what he has there.

Either way, it is some of the best firewood you can get.... free and delivered. My thought with log drops is to not be picky. Be thankful and hope for the best. If he gets that pine split and stacked, it will be ready to burn in no time. That is one good thing about the soft woods.
