After a year of FB messages and pleasantries, a local tree company made this drop. All free, too big for them to sell to their typical firewood guys. Beech, hard maple, and oak. I offered him a $20 for fuel and he declined. I said "Remember next time, when it's me or the other guy, that I owe you a $20 for fuel." I've already put up about 3.5 cord of red oak this winter, but I (think) I can find room in the barn to store all of this. The red oak log in the background is for the Woodmizer mill sometime this spring hopefully :)

I think the skid loader with forks will help. My MS310 20," and Dad's MS361 24," with my buddy's MS500i 36" are on standby to throw some chips!!!

Uh-oh. I got the call yesterday - he dropped a SECOND load. I got the 361 25" out and put 2 tanks through her for this 1 log. I have my buddy's 500i 36" for the day - time to throw chips!!!

Well, I used my old Lull telehandler to unstack the pile. She's rated for 4000 lbs, didn't really sweat. The 500i is a beast of a saw. I need to get one for myself instead of borrowing my buddy's. I return it clean and full on gas/oil, plus throw in a new chain every now and then. It's all bucked to length, now to get it all split.

Nice wood drop ya got there. Can't beat free logs even if they are monsters. I love the 500i. Throttle response with the fuel injection will put a smile on ones face. IMHO, the 36'' bar is a bit to much. The power head will drive it but will not be as responsive. Engine is working hard. The biggest drawback is the bar oiler keeping that much chain well lubricated. Even with the pump turned up full.

I see the 32'' really being the max length. A 28'' bar would be well suited length for that 80cc saw. FWIW, I'm looking a light weight 28'' on a MS462 (70cc saw), and a light weight 32" on the 80cc 500i. These are for crane work when I ride the ball so, use will be limited.

If I ever need a bigger saw that 500i is on my list
In comparison, they are fuel pigs.
That said, I still love that saw.

This has a muffler mod - burned about 1.5 gallons in those few hours. But it runs like a burned cat.

We got a lot split in about 5 hours yesterday. Skid-steer mount splitter for rough chunking, then a 4-way wedge on this hoss tow-behind splitter.
