I upgraded the idiot box and amp this spring and now use less than half the electricity and don't have to have a AC in the room in the summer.

I hear ya on the plasma for heat and wattage as it does heat up a room, (ceiling fan helps) but the pic is top notch from a brand that is no longer made. Overall I prefer plasma for Blu Ray movie quality and AFAIK, no one has beat the black levels of this unit yet. The heat is nice in the winter ==c

Plus just got my elect bill for July where the heat and humidity were both sky high-I ran 2 a/c units far more than usual and the bill was still only 100 bucks. The a/c has not been on in 3 weeks now.

Soon? In a month or so you'll be using it again! Yep, admit it your a Slacker! :p

From what they say, Ash acts like damprid(absorbs moisture). I have heard a few say they are letting it ride and will clean just before they need to fire it up again. Wonder how many have tried this? I wanna be a slacker too, If it doesn't do any harm cause I'm lazy! ;em

My G/F does not clean until fall. Makes me cringe but she has had no issues from it yet and guess who gets the call for full cleaning in Sept?

Didnt Krooser leave his a few years ago? BTW where has he been? Not much from the boy last season that I remember.

The new smart plasmas will beat the LED LCD hands down and the power consumption is only a buck or two a year more. The off air sound is pretty good via HDMI. We are a bit off forum subject. Just got this weeks ad flyer and local Fleet farm store has Superior Pellets on sale for a season low of 189 a ton. Have to unload the two cords of wood off the trailer I split yesterday first:( Why didn't they have the sale last week when it was so cool out>

Not too far off topic, I did state that the plasma heats well, so no burning was needed last week ==c

OK, to get back to pellets- I looked at the 3 pallets still in the garage and thought about starting the treck across the yard and down the hill to the basement door in case I need a fire soon (NOT happening). Then I thought again and did something else. ;)

My electric bill was $198 for a month where I ran the AC about 20% of the time. Usually have a bill around $140. My house hold the heat well. No shade trees next to it. I have my widows open and several fans going. Didn't shut them down during the cool nights because it takes all night to get the house to cool down and then it is still in the 70's.
I don't look forward to having to tend the fire, but when I do have one, there isn't the lawn or garden to tend to so it is somewhat a trade off. I would run a fire is the house got too damp, but not for now.

I just got around to cleaning mine last weekend and already had some rust. Not bad but did have some, so I decided to scrap it down, spray painted it and put the damp out in. Also, this year I capped the exhaust pipe and I plugged the fresh air intake. We will see what happens in a month or so. Hope to hold off burning until Oct. 1st. But like all others the wife will tell me when its time to start burning.
