Firewood cutting.. carpenter ants. Freak or ignore?

  • Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.

We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.

We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.
My experience is no water, no bugs. Those guys are the symptom, and not the problem.

I've never seen a termite or carpenter ant in my stacks that are top-covered and off the ground.

Termites will build a mud tunnel to span a dry travel path, but surely that's a last resort for them.
