Question:
I am in the market for a new set of fireplace doors and screen. I have a couple i like that are priced in the range of $300-850. I have also been to Home Depot and seen what appears to be a pretty good ripoff of the Schafer models at far less the price. What-besides the obvious (construction -materials) could make a fireplace door worth $300 more than another. I am looking for the bifold door type that is not on roller and screens that open as doors- not the pull type.
Answer:
Good question..I've wondered myself. Some of the answers: Warranty--Some are 7 years-even cover glass breakage--you won;t even get parts for the Home Depot doors. Construction Fit: Home Depot's are usually very large framed- so they don;t have to carry many sku's It's just like anything else- you can buy a wrench for .99 or you can buy a snap-on for $14.00 - the folks in the know buy the snap-on
