I just bought a used Enviro Empress that is running well, but my flame is running a bit too fast for my taste. I'd like to adjust the damper which is stuck. I'm not sure the person who had it before me ever knew it had a damper, even though I asked where it was. So, I'm assuming it's creosote or something as the stove is about 15 years old at this point. Are there any things I should know about as I attempt to unstick it?

Also, the person I bought it from said that it should never be run on the lowest setting for an extended period of time, so I've been running it on heat level 2 mostly. I was unsure why he would say this because there isn't any prohibition in the manual. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum
A common problem with enviro stoves
Only 1 way to free it up the stove needs to be cleaned, intake to exhaust termination
when the combustion motor is removed you can see the slide gate inside the stove
and part of the gate and handle outside the stove loosen the upper and lower screws
just back then of a couple of turns now work the slide up and down just a little push it
in pull it out until it slides right out. Use a long very thin tool to clean the compacted
ash from the slide grooves. Slide the gate back in and tighten the screws (not too tight )
work it back and forth every 4 or 5 years it should be done maybe more often
Running the stove on the lowest setting your glass will get dirty faster and depending
on the pellets you use the stove may go out
Oh and what you are looking for is Numbers 25 and 5 on page 30 of your manual
Also, look at this video
