A buddy of mine has the unit - it was given to him & he used what ever venting the previous owner had to hook it to a Class A chimney where he'd pulled out an old wood stove...
He recently had a chimney fire, (first Pellet unit I ever heard having one!) so we're gonna replace all of his fried Simpson pellet vent with Excel.
He had used the old Simpson PVthat his friend gave him, which started with a 90* elbow then went to back-to-back stove starters to a another 90* elbow then vertical to the Class A...
Looking at the back of his stove, the exhaust adapter is pointing straight down...
Wassup with THAT????
I HAD intended to use a stove starter, then a 6 adjustable, to a 90, then vertical to a 3-4 increaser, thru a 4 to 6 Class A adapter, to a 4" liner, to the cap, but there isn't room for the starter & 90...there's BARELY room for the 90!
His PV90 had about a tube of GE Silicone goobed all over it to seal it...
I guess the question I have is why does this thing not exit straight out the back?
I know there's somebody here who works for Englander, & beat the crap out of me cuz I dissed the company,
but this is a pretty dumb set-up, IMHO...
Does this "quality" company make a square-to-round 90* adapter so I can vent this guy's unit correctly, or is Rube-Goldberg the way Englander planned this one?
TIA,
